This summer, Jonna Bouré attended a week-long trip around Acadian French sites in Maine with a dozen other French teachers. This experience motivated her to invite Noah Ouellette, a representative from the French consulate in Boston, to visit CHS and tour the region. Her AP students just completed a video short film about the Acadian experience and the French honor society students will be teaching French at CCS in January during Power Hour as part of their community service. Jonna's dedication to telling the story of Northern Maine Acadians caught the interest of the DOE who chose to interview her for the DOE Newsroom publication earlier this month. https://mainedoenews.net/2021/12/03/celebrating-maine-heritage-through-a-love-of-language-meet-jonna-boure/

Viking Weekly-Athletics- Hello Viking Nation! The regular season action will heat up this weekend! The Caribou Viking athletes have been hard at it practicing and preparing for the upcoming season. We were fortunate to be able to get in our winter athletic picture day last week! This week, teams are doing the seasonal meet the coaches night where parents have an opportunity to meet the coach and coaches go over the season and expectations with the parents and athletes in attendance. This is an important part of the season where parents can formally meet the coach, get contact information and learn the philosophy of our programs. With the winter weather here in full force, we might be in positions where we have to cancel practices. If this happens, we will send out the information via our app. Parent’s please make sure you’re registered for the RSU #39 app. This app can be received on android and apple devices. Once you’ve downloaded the app, and signed up, you will get a notification on your device when information has been pushed out. A friendly reminder that fans MUST be masked while at Caribou High School indoor events. Alpine events are at outside venues and the guidelines for those events will be based on the venue. Nordic events will allow fans and if people go into the ski building, masks will be required. Away events are different based on the host venue. When traveling, I will update the teams traveling and the community to inform you of the protocol and expectations when traveling to different venues. Again, a friendly reminder to parents, please make sure that your student athlete is registered for this winter on www.caribouvikings.org. Schedules are updated on the athletics website. This week’s Caribou High School Athletics schedule of events are as follows: Saturday, December 11th: Wrestling at MDI at 12:00, weigh in at 11:00. Boys Varsity Basketball at Old Town, 12:30. Please check out the Caribou High School athletics Facebook page for more information. Also check out the athletics website at www.caribouvikings.org with schedule updates. GO VIKINGS!
