Parent Teacher Conferences for Trimester 2 is scheduled for Friday, January 14th from 12:00 to 2:45pm. Once again this year, we are asking that parents register for a conference with the teachers that they want to meet with. Given our safety protocols, in light of the pandemic, all sessions with teachers will be conducted virtually. To streamline the scheduling, we are using the website PTCFast.com. This will make signups convenient and allow you to see the available times to meet with teachers. To register for a conference, use the following directions: Please enter the following web address into your browser window: https://ptcfast.com/schools/Caribou_High_School_1 Select your student’s teacher(s) that you wish to meet with, and choose your conference time. If these times do not work for you, please email your students' teacher and set up a mutually agreed upon time to have a conference if you wish to do so. If you have limited internet access and wish to schedule a conference, please contact the school via phone at 207-493-4260 and we can assist you. It is our hope that this way of scheduling makes it easier for everyone involved. We look forward to “seeing” you (virtually) on Parent Teacher Conference Day.

Message from Mr. Pinette, CHS Guidance Director. Caribou High School has started a Winter Academy where credits can be made up for failed classes either during a student's study hall or after school hours. The failing grade must have at least be a 50 or higher. This would keep a student from having to repeat the entire required course. Please sign up in the Guidance Office. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Pinette in the Guidance Office (207-493-4260).

Viking Weekly-Hello Viking Nation!- Happy New Year! The New Year brings a time when people create a plan to improve. When watching our athletes compete, I’m quick to notice and reflect on the plan that our coaches have for our athletes and for the teams that they coach. Having an effective plan takes a vision. The vision is the end result, often looking at tools to help the student athletes work hard, learn skills, and improve all while doing what is best for the TEAM. As the season progresses, we see the plan unfold often in ways that we, as fans, couldn't see taking shape. Our coaches and student athletes are working so hard with the guidance of the coaching staff who put in so much time to work with these young athletes to help them improve their craft and become better people. The Nordic ski team is improving and looking forward to upcoming competition with great snow conditions! The Alpine Ski team had some great training over break and is looking to move the momentum forward with meets this week! The Wrestling team has shown steady growth while putting up some great success on the mat. Their work ethic is also noticed throughout Caribou High School with their cleaning-up prior to practice and returning the cafeteria to order after practice. The Cheering squad has been preparing for upcoming competitions and has been a big help at home events helping with concessions and offering support for teams. The Boys Basketball teams have been having some great practices and are starting to put the pieces together against some tough competition. The Girls Basketball teams have been getting comfortable with their offense and the fun style of play that they are working on. The athletes are buying into the plan and working on their vision. Winter weather is here in full force. If we have to cancel practices and events we will send out the information via our app. Parent’s please make sure you’re registered for the RSU #39 app. The app can be received on android and apple devices. A friendly reminder that fans MUST be masked while at Caribou HS indoor events. No food or drinks allowed in the gym. This week’s Caribou High School Athletics schedule of events are as follows: Tuesday, January 4th: Girls Basketball at Presque Isle, JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7:00. *90 vouchers for CHS fans. Viking Weekly-Hello Viking Nation! Merriam Webster has the definition of compete as; to strive consciously or unconsciously for an objective (such as position or a prize) : be in a state of rivalry. When I see our teams on the trails, on the mats and on the court this winter, this is what I am seeing. Our kids are striving for an objective. Our student athletes have coaches that are having a positive impact on them and instilling hard work, skills, and what it means to be a part of a team. Our wrestling team is off to a great start with our student athletes working hard in practice and translating that hard work onto the mat where they are showing great improvements when competing at a high level. The Alpine ski team showed great promise on Saturday in a race in Ft. Kent, and got to see area’s where they can improve. The cheering squad is working on fine tuning their routine for competitions that will be taking place in mid January. The Cheerleaders are also offering some pep and school spirit at our home games and assisting with the boosters club. The cheerleaders are working with Viktor, the Viking at home games as Viktor navigates the crowd and meets our fans! Viktor will be handing out stickers to fans and be available for photo opportunities! The nordic is anxiously awaiting their first competition! The Basketball teams are competing and working hard. The teams are showing some great potential and every game there are breakthroughs that bring out the fire of these kids competing. The CHS e-sports team, Gilson’s Goons, competed in the State Championship competition on Friday and battled to a tough loss and really set the tone for the future of the e-sports program at Caribou High School. This program will continue to have a very positive impact on our school. There are great opportunities for our athletes competing in e-sports! This week’s Caribou High School Athletics schedule of events are as follows: Monday, December 20th: Boys JV 2 Basketball at CCS vs 8th graders at 3:30. Tuesday December 21st: CHS Nordic Freestyle meet at Ft. Kent at 3:00. Wednesday, December 22nd: Girls Basketball hosting MDI, JV at 1:00, Varsity at 2:30. Boys Basketball, hosting MDI, JV at 4:00, Varsity at 5:30. Wrestling at PCHS, weigh in at 4:00, wrestling starts at 5:00. Thursday, December 23rd: Girls Basketball at Ellsworth, JV at 1:00, Varsity at 2:30. Boys Basketball at Ellsworth, JV at 4:00, Varsity at 5:30. 4 vouchers per home/away basketball player.
