RE: SOFT LOCKDOWN - EXTERNAL THREAT
Dear Parents,
This letter is to inform you about a soft lockdown situation today. Our district is committed to the safety, and education of all our students. We also want to communicate with parents about safety issues when they arise.
At 11:40 a.m. today we were notified by a neighboring school that a threat had been posted on Facebook making threats to elementary schools, but no specifics were provided such as area, community, or name of school. According to the local police department, the owner of the post resides in Fort Fairfield.
As a precaution, the building administration was advised to go into soft lockdown. At 12:50 p.m. we were contacted by the police department that the suspect had been arrested. Our schools are no longer in lockdown.
Sometimes, lockdown situations can frighten students. Please discuss this situation with your children, and let us know if follow-up is needed at school our counselors are available.
Please feel free to call me at 496-6311 or email me at jmccall@rsu39.org.
Sincerely,
Jane McCall
Superintendent of Schools
