Caribou Teams Do Well at State Jazz and Show Choir Competition

Waterville - This past weekend the best in the state gathered at Lawerence High School in Waterville for the two day State Show Choir and Jazz Choir festival. Performances kicked off Friday at the Middle School level where the CMS Show Choir received a Silver Rating for their outstanding performance. Solo certificates were awarded to Justin Walton, Abbi Gauvin, Lauren Lister, Landyn Hyde, Evan Rossignol, and Tyra Sterner for MS Show Choir Division 1. The only other county team to participate was Woodland in Division II, they received a Silver Award and an overall 2nd place finish in their division.

The sining and dancing continued Saturday with the High School level competition. This time the CHS Show Choir impressed the judges Saturday morning and was awarded a Bronze Rating, and 3rd place overall finish in Division II. Austin LaPlante received one of four Outstanding Musicianship trophies, and Amelia Roy, Abbi Allen, Ahlanda Engstrom-Jones, Austin Laplante, Christopher Parent, Caleb Robbins, Ryan Austin, Isaac Marker, and Matt McCormack received certificates for HS Show Choir Division II.

In the Afternoon/Evening round it was the CHS Jazz Choir taking to the stage for one last time to show off what they had. Their performance scored them a Bronze Rating while Austin Laplante, Mia Theriault, Michael Kashian and Isaac Marker were recognized for their solos in HS Jazz Choir Division II.
